Treasure World DS - A Mini Review
In responding to today’s Amazon deal in a comment at Tiny Cartridge, I ended up writing a mini-review of a neat little bit of entertainment for the Nintendo DS called Treasure World.  The central “gameplay” of Treasure World is “wardriving” otherwise known as hunting for wifi hotspots.  The more hotspots you find, the more treasure you collect.  I thought I would add...

Sending HTML Email to Google Contact Groups
Plus an excellent video tutorial on how to code HTML emails. I scooped this out of the comments at CSS-Tricks.com.  If you want to send a fancy HTML email to a group of recipients from GMail you first need to create it, then send it to yourself at GMail with a much savvier email client.  Commenter Petra explains… 1) I created the HTML mail as described in the video with Thunderbird 2) I...

In Defense of Twitter →
I wish the Twitter haters would get over themselves and just focus on their Facebook pages (or just chill in the warm glow of their FriendFeed).  Just kidding, I love you guys. Keep hating on the Twitter.  Constructive criticism is never bad.

I Like the English Version Better
Japanese: 引っ越しの準備は、まるにとってパラダイスでした。 キッチンで使っていたごみ箱がどうにも気に入ったようです。 最後は遊び疲れて寝ています。 English: The preparations for moving were paradises for Maru. He liked the trash box which I used in a kitchen. Finally he has slept under the cardboard box. Visit: Maru

Something to Think About
The following image is from the Stuart McMillen comic, Amusing Ourselves to Death, which compares George Orwell’s dystopian future from 1984 with Alduous Huxley’s in a Brave New World.  I’ve read both and found Huxley’s future a little more disturbing. Now that I’ve read this comic, I think I know why.  I recommend you read it too. [via @chrisheuer via @willpate]

Tumblr Adds Twitter Support
I’m a little late in sharing this, but I’m doing so to test out how it works.  Tumblr, the engine and service behind my modest little blog, has added the ability to send out Twitter updates about my latest posts.  Even better, the function can be toggled on and off so I can send out Tweets about important things, like my “NCDD Behind the Scenes” posts, and hold back on my...

Using Social Media in the D&D Community
NCDD’s director Sandy Heierbacher (my beautiful wife) just added the following to NCDD’s newsblog. Note: Here D&D stands for dialogue and deliberation not the RPG. Nonprofits and consultants in our field are still learning how best to harness increasingly popular social media outlets like FaceBook, LinkedIn and Twitter.  The growth rates for such platforms is staggering, and...

Keep Your Mac in Shape →
I’m a sucker for a good Mac OS X menu app and I’ve been meaning to find a maintenance utility that I would use regularly. Main Menu seems to be that utility and I’ll be taking it for a test run for the duration of the trial period.

Amazing Apollo 11 Site from the JFK Library
WeChooseTheMoon.org By far the most ambitious online celebration of the Apollo Moon Landing that I have found today while exploring the interwebs has to be the JFK Presidential Library’s WeChooseTheMoon.org. The library museum also has a new exhibit:  Moon Shot – JFK and Space Exploration… This special exhibit in the Museum at the JFK Presidential Library celebrates the 40th...

SomaFM Celebrates Apollo 11
My favorite internet radio station,  SomaFM, just got a whole lot better. I received the following email this morning and I’ve been listening to the stream all day: Celebrate the 40th anniversary of Apollo 11 and landing on the Moon, with a live NASA rebroadcast set to music as part of SomaFM’s new “Mission Control” channel. Also available on our iPhone and Palm Pre...

Celebrating Man's Greatest Achievement
With video games, of course! Lunar Lander, an excellent recreation by Seb Lee-Delisle.  From his blog… A few years ago, as a tribute to the early pioneers of arcade gaming, I decided to recreate Lunar Lander in Flash, with painstaking attention to detail and accuracy! And what did I do to celebrate this great achievement? Did I shout about it from the rooftops? Did I post it on the...

The Real Apollo 11 Conspiracy [NSFW]
So all the news networks are loving today’s 40th Anniversary of the Apollo 11 lunar landing.  Of course, they can’t help themselves and must give some air time to the idiots who believe the whole thing was a hoax.  But what about the real cover-up? I mean, no one ever mentions the fact that all the audio recordings had to be re-recorded to cover up the initial, colorful (and totally...
