Write one leaf about your own name.
I love my name.  I’m not even bothered by the fact that my first name is sort of popular. I knew a few Andy’s growing up, but not enough to feel my name was commonplace. There were far more John’s and James’ around me. I rarely say my name out loud.  In fact, I sometimes catch myself after saying “Andy”. That’s my name? It sounds kind of weird,...

Write one leaf about cleaning the refrigerator.
I’m not above cleaning. I’m not obsessive about it, but I do like the way a room feels after you have cleaned it up and are able to move around without bumping into things, or can sit down anywhere you want. I’m not a big fan of cleaning bathrooms, but will do it when needed. But kitchens are another story. Dishes, sure.  Wipe down counters, of course. Oven, if I have to....

Hive: A Very Cool Tabletop Game
The following article was lifted with minor changes from Wikipedia… Hive is a bug-themed tabletop game, designed by John Yianni and published in 2001 by Gen Four Two. The object of Hive is to capture the opponent’s queen bee by completely surrounding it, while avoiding the capture of one’s own queen. Hive is an abstract strategy game. Hive shares elements of both tile-based...

Write one leaf about your lucky number.
Thirteen. I love the number 13. It has the power to freak out entire cultures, churn the superstitions of the gullible & alter the very structure of our greatest monuments… and yet it’s only a number, with no more ties to misfortune then the number 4 in China and Japan, 17 in Italy and 87 in Australia (that’s weird). When you’re born a fluke, you naturally flaunt your...

Write one leaf about bookmarks.
Yesterday I dug out Nick Bantok’s The Egyptian Jukebox and once again sat down to try and solve this book-long visual puzzle. I purchased it over ten years ago and have tried two other times to crack its mystery. My reward has always been frustration. I’m pretty good with puzzles, especially the kind that challenge me to decipher clues.  But for whatever reason, the key to this puzzle...

Write one leaf about too much snow.
In the ten years I lived in Vermont I got used to heavy snowfalls and long winters. When I returned to Pennsylvania I left behind the beautiful white winters and had to, once again, get use to the gray, depressing winters that I had almost forgotten. Our first winter back was short, mild and I happily used our newly purchased snow shovel only two times and both snowfalls barely covered my shoes....

Write one leaf about wearing a hat.
For some reason I have become enamored with “beanies” over past year.  It all started with the 1up beanie I ordered from Think Geek last winter (as seen in the photo a few posts below).  I have never worn any type of stocking cap before, not even during the winter, preferring hoods or baseball caps.  But lately I find the cozy comfort of a stretchy cap much more inviting.  It has...

Reblogged from urlesque: “I will pay you $1 to sit in my bathtub full of noodles while you wear a one piece bathing suit. I will not be home, nor will anyone else while you do this. I will leave the key for you, and you will sit at your leisure. DO NOT bring any sauce. I will season the pasta after I return home prior to dinner.”

Yay! TaskPaper (for iPhone) submitted to Apple.
I’ve tried a lot of Note Taking / List Making applications for my Mac, but none have ever resonated with me like Taskpaper.  Its just your basic outliner, but designed with such style and simplicity that, for day-to-day use, it has replaced every tool I have on my system, even the far more complex and powerful OmniOutliner. Taskpaper is finally coming to the iPhone and I can’t...

Weird. I'm 16,000 days old today.
We’re so tuned to measuring our lives in years that we rarely consider how arbitrary that measurement is.  I use a countdown/timer app on my iPhone to track events.  For curiosity’s sake I added my birthday a while back and it recently informed me of today’s milestone.  That got me to thinking about the milestones I missed. Here’s a quick look at several “day”...
