The Morning Pounces on You From Above
It’s my own fault. I don’t discourage it. Having a cat that is almost as affectionate as a dog is a real treat. Lord Byron (yes, that’s his name and it suits him perfectly) hangs out with me when I work, curls up with me when I’m reading a book, and even follows me around the house as if he’s really interested in what I’m doing. He’s with me now as I write this, snoozing away, oblivious to the noisy clicks from the tiny keyboard of my tiny computer. But the price paid for having such a great pet comes at 6:30am when he’s hungry and craving attention. The video below tells the story so well. This morning Lord Byron chose to be less aggressive and more thoughtful with his approach. Curling up beside my head, he started to purr really loudly. Now this is enough to wake me up, but not enough to get me out of bed. So he proceeded to step two, as illustrated in the video — reaching out with a paw, no claws, careful to avoid anything that might upset me, and giving a few sharp poking slaps to my face, one after the other…
The game is on and it can only end with the cat getting fed…
