So I Made This List of My Favorite Movies
We had a great time talking about movies this evening. Here’s my favorites, but the truth is I will watch anything by Wes Anderson, Hayao Miyazaki or Alfred Hitchcock. Add Terry Gilliam to that list as well. And John Huston. And most of Ron Howard’s movies (except the silly DaVinci Code nonsense).
Here’s my favorites, arranged chronologically:
- His Girl Friday (40’s)
- The Seventh Seal (50’s)
- Lawrence of Arabia (60’s)
- Blazing Saddles (70’s)
- Raiders of the Lost Ark (70’s)
- Time Bandits (80’s)
- The Princess Bride (80’s)
- Toy Story (90’s)
- Amelie (00’s)
- Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou (00’s)
- Spirited Away (00’s)
and new for this year…
- Fantastic Mr. Fox (00’s)
Also partial to the extended version of the Lord of the Rings trilogy.
By the way, SHAME ON YOU PEOPLE! for not going to see Fantastic Mr. Fox. You will see it and you will regret missing it in the theaters.
Comments — from near and far

5. Last of the Mohicans (“Whatever it takes, no matter what occurs, I will find you!”)
6. Chocolat (Johnny Depp has never been hotter)
7. Australia (Hugh Jackman has never been hotter)
8. Blast From the Past (pure fun)
9. The Princess Bride
10. Road House (only my friend Shelly will understand this one)
